What type of transcript can I submit?

We can process single-witness deposition transcripts that are uploaded in .txt or .pdf format. Ensure that your PDF is not a scanned document, it's not condensed, and does not include exhibits or attachments.

Currently, we cannot support full court transcripts or depositions that have a Q&A with more than one witness. We hope to make this possible soon!

Why is my summary delayed?

Every document goes through a quality check by a member of our team prior to delivery. If an error was detected and required correction, we’ll make the adjustment to ensure the highest quality and accuracy.

If the summary is delayed, it is most likely the result of an error correction.

What does "awaiting approval" mean?
The file is awaiting a quality check by a member of our team. Every document goes through a human approval process to ensure quality and consistency.
Why does it say my transcript is incompatible, and the file will not upload?

Incompatibility is normally due to one of the following reasons:

1. The transcript is condensed. We cannot support these at this time.

2. The transcript is a scanned image of a PDF, rather than the original PDF.

3. The transcript does not contain an examination portion with Q&A.

4. The file name contains special characters, such as brackets.

How long does it take to get my summary back?
Most summaries are completed within 20-30 minutes on average. Longer transcripts may take up to an hour.
Do you have a mobile app or mobile web options?
We do not have an app at this time. Your account dashboard is only accessible through a laptop or computer browser.
How long will you store my files?
Your completed files are available on the Summaries page of your SmartDepo dashboard. SmartDepo retains customer transcripts and summaries until you decide to delete the files from the SmartDepo web app. During this storage period, SmartDepo solely uses the files to provide access to the customer and does not employ them for any other purpose. If you opt to delete a file, all associated documents will be deleted from our servers within 48 hours.
Is SmartDepo SOC2 Compliant?
SmartDepo has not yet done a SOC 2 audit, however the infrastructure we use is SOC 2 compliant. We follow the security best practices as defined by our cloud provider, Amazon Web Services (AWS), to ensure the security of data and compute. The AWS guidelines themselves are stricter than the general SOC 2 guidelines. The AWS guidelines are available HERE.
